Derek Fromson
Coach - Lauryn was a competitive swimmer for 16 years and has been teaching lessons for 13 years. She is passionate about the sport of swimming and about helping others learn more about the sport. Lauryn has experience in teaching swim lessons to people ages 3-65 and is open and excited to teach.

First swim lesson with STJ, and it was great! Came away with targeted exercises to work on points in my form. There were a technique corrections that Derek phrased more clearly than any instructor I've heard in the past.

My deep thanks to Derek for the terrific swim lesson. Wuth patience and humor, Derek helped me improve my foundational stroke and learn new methods for working out in the pool. After months of simply doing monotonous laps, I feel like have a roadmap to ramping up my swim sessions and making them more challenging both physically and mentally.

Just did my third lesson with Derek, and he is fantastic. I had been training on my own for triathlons and stalled in my progress. He has been able to break down the flaws in my swimming and really help me break bad habits. He sends me incredible email feedback and work outs to do in between sessions. I strongly recommend him for any one trying to improve their swimming.

Had my first swim lesson at St James Gym in Bethesda today and Derek was awesome. I'm 28 and pretty new to swimming, so I was a bit nervous, but Derek was super patient and really knew his stuff. Felt way more confident by the end of just the first lesson. Huge thanks and a big 5 stars for Derek!

Ren is an awesome teacher. She tailors lessons to exactly my goals and is able to provide insightful advice on improving my swimming. It is amazing how she can suggest a little tweak, and it makes such a positive impact on my performance.
